Who We Are

Hi, we’re BJ and Bianca — Hadley’s parents (and Ruby’s parents, because they are a package deal!). And the founders of Hadley Heart Foundation.

We’ve been together since high school, and for as long as we can remember, we dreamed about having a family. We pictured traveling the world, going to Dave Matthews Band concerts together, finding amazing food wherever we went, and making a lifetime of memories as a family.

Finding out we were having twin girls was one of the happiest moments of our lives.

Starting at just 12 weeks pregnant, doctors’ appointments and hospital visits became part of our everyday life. Weekly scans turned into a two-week hospital stay before the girls were born, and eventually, the hospital became our second home.

We were fortunate to be able to stay in Boston for over a year and a half while navigating life with one newborn at home and one newborn in the hospital. Having a place where we could be together, where Ruby could grow and adjust, and where we could walk to Hadley at any moment meant everything to us.

Those hospital walls saw it all.

They saw our girls grow from premature infants into little girls who rolled, sat, crawled, walked, and talked. They saw BJ taking work calls in the bathroom (often making nurses wonder why he was talking to himself), Ruby making endless laps around the unit in her pink car, and Bianca learning how to manage medications, tubes, and everything else that came with being Hadley’s biggest advocate.

Being a parent with a child with medical needs changes everything about your world. But it also teaches you what matters most.

The Hadley Heart Foundation was created because we know firsthand how important it is for families to be together during the hardest seasons of their lives. We know the stress that comes with hospital stays, medical decisions, work, bills, and all of the responsibilities that continue outside the hospital walls.

Our goal is simple: help families stay close, stay together, and focus on making memories with their children.

Hadley showed us what love, strength, and family look like. Through this foundation, we hope to share that same love with other families walking a similar path.
